Bold Red Lip

13:39

Really easy make up look inspired by the catwalk make up for Rick Owens 2012 Autumn collection.
It is a really simple look - minimal make up and a bold red lip.

I used MAC Studio Finish Concealer to cover any redness, to create a flawless finish on the skin but also to prevent the red lipstick from drawing out any redness in the face. I also applied this over the eyelids to make them appear bright and healthy. I then applied Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation which gives a natural, fresh faced finish to the skin. For the eyes I ran a little of the Bourjois intense extraight 10 matte black eyeshadow along the upper lash line to add some definition, and finished the eyes off with No7 Exceptional definition mascara.
For the lips I chose YSL Rouge Pur Couture in shade 14 and applied this with a lip brush as this gives more control and precision.

Tips
Subtlety is key - The foundation should be subtle and natural so it is best to use a lighter coverage skin base. BB creams or tinted moisturisers are perfect for this look.

Build up the foundation - Start with a small amount of product on the brush and keep adding to build up to the coverage you want. By applying the foundation in stages you can control the amount of product you are applying, remember it is easier to add more and build up than add too much and try to take off!

Conceal well - The red lipstick will draw out any redness in the face so concealing well is key. Remember to take the foundation over the eyelids to brighten the eyes and cancel out any discolouration.

Use liner - When using bold lipsticks it is important to line the lips to avoid the colour bleeding. Clear lip liner is a good option for those that are not too confident about lip lining.
