1920's Flapper Make Up Look

11:34

This 1920's inspired look is all about dark eyes, pale matte skin and dark rounded lips, think porcelain doll and that is pretty much the look we are going for.

I began concealing the face with MAC Studio Finish concealer. For the base you want a matte foundation with good coverage, I used No7 'Stay Perfect' foundation in the shade 'Cool Vanilla'. I then moved on to the eyes and used MAC 'Brun' eyeshadow to fill in the brows and slightly elongate them. I applied an Urban Decay eyeshadow in 'Gunmetal' from the Naked Palette all over the lid with a MAC 217 blending brush I then blended this in circular motions up to and slightly above the centre of the crease. I then used the tip of a MAC 239 flat brush to run some Urban Decay eyeshadow in 'Creep' (also from the Naked palatte) along the top lashline and underneath the eye. To define the eye even more I ran Max Factor Khol Pencil in 020 Black along the top lashline and smudged this in with the tip of my MAC 239. Remember not to wing the shadow out or create any flicks with the liner, it is more of a smudgy effect we are after. I then applied more of the pencil liner to the upper and lower water line and finished the eyes off with Benefit Bad Gal mascara.
I lined the lips concentrating mainly in the center with MAC Nightmoth lip liner, it is important to strongly define the cupids bow as this gives the lip its heart shape. Take the liner on the bottom lip slightly below the lip line to give the effect of a full lip. I then applied a Maybelline lipstick in the colour 'Pleasure me red' in the centre of the lip and used it to blend out the edges of the lip liner. Using a brighter colour in the centre of the lip also helps give the effect of a fuller lip.
I then applied Laura Geller Blush-N-Brighten in the colour Down to earth, to the backs of my cheeks and finished off the look by powdering the face with MAC Sheer loose powder.
